About Us

Established in 1900, Bear Hill Golf Club holds the proud distinction of being one of Massachusetts' oldest private golf clubs. The course, designed by the renowned architect Alex Findlay, offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience suitable for players of all skill levels.

During its early years, Bear Hill served a dual purpose as a cow pasture and a golf course. Cows and greens were separated by fencing; however, the fencing in the early 1900s proved ineffective, resulting in the likelihood of cows being struck by golf balls. The humorous call of "Fore Cow!" was likely a familiar refrain, albeit with limited success.

Today, Bear Hill aspires to be the premier 9-hole golf club in the Northeast. Collaborating with Golf Course Architect Mark Mungeam, the club is committed to continuously improving and refining its golf course.

The Clubhouse, a welcoming retreat open year-round, invites members and their guests to indulge in dining, social events, and relaxation, regardless of the season. Beyond the meticulously maintained golf course, Bear Hill offers an Olympic-sized swimming pool and tennis courts for members to enjoy.

Conveniently located just 10 miles north of Boston and minutes away from Route I-95, Bear Hill Golf Club is easily accessible from Stoneham, Wakefield, and Reading. Whether you are seeking a quick round of golf, private event, a delightful meal, or a weekend escape, Bear Hill provides a tranquil setting for leisure and recreational pursuits. Come and visit to experience the charm of Bear Hill for yourself.
